Tungnath Chandrashila Trek

Trek through deep snow, through snow laden thick oak forests and across snow fields. The route is an easy trek in summer time, but in winter it can be a challenge. The temperatures will be sub zero. You should have basic fitness, willingness to walk and a strong will power to fight all odds of nature.

Tungnath - Chandrashila trip is planned on a full fledged expedition scale, and professional mountaineering gear is provided to make this a safe and memorable experience. All participants would need to trek with backpacks weighing around 15 kgs, and in snow boots and associated mountaineering gear.

Do not join, if you are unwilling to bear biting cold weather or cannot do some real roughing out. In a nutshell - This is not a pleasure trip!... its a summit.

After breakfast drive to Siyal saur.The entire drive today is along the Ganga, Alaknanda, and Mandakini river. We stop at Devparyag,the historical town situated on the banks of Bhagirathi and Alaknanda river to see the confluence . We stop at Rudraparyag for lunch. After lunch we drive through the Mandakini valley along the river. Arrive Siyal saur(840mt)and camp. Meals and overnight camp.

Early morning after break fast 1/2hour drive to Okhimath (1370 mts/4500 ft), Okhimath is the winter seat of Lord Kedarnath, as well as the winter home of the priest who presides over his worship. After the Kedarnath temple closes for the winter, a movable image of Kedarnath is brought in procession to Okhimath, where it resides until the Kedarnath temple reopens in late April or early May. Visit temple and trek to Deoriya tal(2360mt). Initiaiiy the trek goes through the village trail giving you a chance to have a close encounter with the settlement pattern, dress jwellery and life style of mountain people, Latter the trek gose through the thick forest , one the last stretch we come close to the tree line to reach the lake. Enjoy the outstanding view of great Himalayan peaks in the lake, Meals and overnight stay in camp.

In the morning enjoy the sun rise and you can see snow clapped Himalayan ranges. After breakfast start your trek to Chopta through dense forest of Rhododendron and lots of wild flowers and ferns. The trek will take 6- 7 hrs to reach Chopta. Upon arrival at Chopta set out the tents for overnight stay. Meals and overnight stay in camp.

In the morning after breakfast trek to Lord Tungnath. The entire trek is a gradual ascent through the dwarf Rhododendron bushes. One encounters Mt.Chukhamba (A mountain with four pillars) from different angles. Arrive Tungnath (3650mt) the highest Hindu pillgrimise choptatemple in the Himalayas. Those who are fit enough can climb up to Chandrasilla (4200 mt). Arrive Chandrasilla and enjoy the 360 degree of panoramic view of Greater Himalayan peaks as wall as the valley behind. Experience the godly vibrationas and trek back to Chopta. Meals and overnight stay camp

After an early breakfast trek down to Talli, The entire trek today goes through the thick forest and chances of encountering rare Himalayan flora are very high Enjoy the rare species of Himalayan birds in the forest. Later drive to Rishikesh, Arrive Rishikesh and tour terminates upon arrival at Rishikesh.
